Are you an African-American female between 18-29 and possessed with a youthful face and a great set of pipes? Do you know the songs from The Wiz like the back of your hand? Then you need to Ease On Down The Road to New York City for open auditions tomorrow.  Casting director Bernie Telsey is looking for his Dorothy for NBC’s live production of The Wiz Live that will air on the network this fall.

If you think we’re bluffing – Tesley is the man who chose Stephanie Mills in 1975. Mills played Dorothy in the original Broadway production and is returning 36 years later to play Auntie Em on the TV version.

“We’re looking for a young African-American girl who’s over 18, but shouldn’t be over 29, because they still have to look young,” says Telsey. And he says they are open to a full-figured Dorothy as well. “As long as she has those vocal pipes and can tap into that emotional power, we want to see her. It’s really everybody’s Dorothy. Absolutely.”

The three songs a woman should be prepared to sing are “Home,” “Ease On Down The Road” and “Be A Lion,” so get your You Tube on if you don’t already know them.
