Kanye West has just received the hometown honor of a lifetime from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Just call him Dr. West! The “College Dropout” lyricist was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts degree from the Art Institute of Chicago.
Though Kanye rarely makes apologies for things he’s said in public, he revealed why “I’m sorry” just might be his favorite phrase during his acceptance speech. But that wasn’t before he sloughed off the title of rapper to take up a new mantle.

“I am a pop artist, so my medium is public opinion and the world is my canvas,” said Kanye. “‘I’m sorry’ is something you can use a lot. It gives you the opportunity to give your opinion, apologize for it, and give your opinion again.”
And while Kanye doesn’t usually smile in his pics, he was grinning from ear-to-ear in a shot his wife Kim Kardashian posted to Instagram.
