(HOUSTON) — As the violence between Israel and Gaza escalates, day to day life for Israelis and Palestinians is being changed.

I was a foreign exchange student to Israel in high school. I talked to my host sister Friday about the conflict, and got a virtual taste of the violence.

Listen to the report here, and watch the complete interview below:

Osnat Dror is a working mom of two living in a suburb of Tel Aviv. She says her life is affected by the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Even our Google+ Hangout interview was interrupted by it.

“We came out very quickly because we actually got the report that [a missile] was stopped by Iron Dome somewhere in the center of Israel not far from Tel Aviv so this is not our place so we can go out,” Osnat said.

Osnat talked about the defense systems Israel has in place including Iron Dome, and why she believes peace in the Middle East has been so hard to achieve.
