Old School 105.3 has learned that Hollywood star, Ruby Dee passed away at the age of 91. According to MStars News the actress died at her home in New Rochelle, NY where she was surrounded by her family.
Dee’s role as mama Lucas in the 2007 film, American Gangster would bring her an Oscar nomination. See video clip below.
Her love for writing poetry, and screenwriting would win her a Grammy and Emmy. The actress was best known for her roles in the 1960s film, A Raisin in the Sun, and Spike Lee films including, Do the Right Thing, and Jungle Fever.
