FOOD LION, COCA-COLA AND CIAA ANNOUNCE WINNERS OF ESSAY CONTEST

Nineteen winners to receive a total of $35,000 in Scholarship Grants

Food Lion, together with Coca-Cola and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association® (CIAA) are proud to announce the winners of the 2014 Food Lion Essay Contest, part of the 2014 CIAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament. Four grand prize winners will receive $5,000 scholarships and 15 first place finishers will each receive $1,000.

The Grand Prize $5,000 Scholarship Winners are:

•          Mariah McKesson of Winston-Salem State University

•          Karitta Conyers of Chowan University

•          Pierre Salomon of Fayetteville State University

•          Tiffanie C. Adair of Virginia State University

The First Place $1,000 Scholarship Winners are:

•          Sophia Rickard of Fayetteville State University

•          William Jones of Chowan University

•          Zoie Forster of Livingstone College

•          Latarryl Hall of Chowan University

•          Tobechi Nwamara of Elizabeth City State University

•          Vanessa Gyamfi of Bowie State University

•          Ashley Jones of Johnson C. Smith University

•          Nicole Smith of Virginia State University

•          Naveen Vinukonda of Winston-Salem State University

•          Olivia Stinson of Winston-Salem State University

•          Tanesha Dudley of Virginia State University

•          Taylor J. Beckett of Bowie State University

•          Taylor Daniels of Livingstone College

•          Will Johnson of Winston-Salem State University

•          Kristen Williams of Bowie State University

Contest participants submitted a 500 to 700 word essay answering the question – How does my CIAA school impact my community? The 2014 winners were selected by a panel of third-party judges from Dream Builders Communications.
