There’s a storied history of Africa that is all too often ignored during Black History Month. The giants of the Civil Rights movement are rightfully recognized and celebrated. The achievements of African Americans in the United States is an apporpriate part of Black History Month. But without Africa and our cultural and traditional ties to what many in the African diaspora call the “Motherland,” our history is incomplete.

During Black History Month, ‘COMMUNITY VOICES’ explores the rich history and tradition of the “Motherland” in the series, ‘THE MOVEMENTS AND VOICES OF THE AFRICAN DIASPORA.’ In our first installment of our three-part series, ‘COMMUNITY VOICES’ host, Ron Holland, presents the African and African-American historians, John Henrik Clarke, Dr. Ben Yosef Jochannan, Dr. Ivan Van Sertima, Dr. Chancellor Williams and Chiekh Anta Diop These giants of African and African American history made it their mission to provide a detailed history of Africa and her people.
