No surprises here, but Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools join the long list of North Carolina schools closed due to a winter storm that dropped up to two inches of snow on the region.
The storm turned Atlanta roads into parking lots, leaving motorists stranded Tuesday night. In Charlotte the roads are mostly wet and slick.
From board of education member Ericka Michelle-Ellis Stewart’s FB:
District leaders have been checking road conditions and while many roads are clear, many roads across the county remain icy. We made this decision in consultation with law enforcement officials, city and county staff and CMS transportation. This decision was made in the best interest of all students and employees.

Earlier today, Gov. Pat McCrory declared a state of emergency. And Mayor Pat Cannon suggested people stay home.
“I have signed a state of emergency declaration for all of North Carolina. This allows us to mobilize resources to respond to the storm, and it’s the first step in seeking federal funds to cover the cost of providing emergency services, clearing debris, and repairing any damaged roads or bridges,” Governor McCrory said.
