With temperatures expected to remain well below freezing tonight, the Charlotte region is staying in a deep freeze. Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools will be opening two hours late on Wednesday. Schools throughout the western part of the state will be opening late or closed on Wednesday.
The Red Cross warming center will remain open uptown until noon Wednesday.
