Despite the Government Shutdown – the new $100 bill, which added an array of high-tech features aimed to sidetrack counterfeiters, hit the streets yesterday.

The Federal Reserve will be rolling out the new bill to regional banks around the country. Insiders say it took the reserve more than a decade to develop the new bill which hit some road blocks due to production issues which pushed the release back the release some two and half years.

The last time the $100 bill saw a redesign was March 1996. The new design keeps the same look of the old bill which has Benjamin Franklin on the front and Philadelphia’s Independence Hall on the back.

The difference in the bill this time around is a disappearing Liberty Bell in an inkwell and a bright blue three-dimensional security ribbon when tilted images move in different directions depending on how its held.
