Are you one of those people that think the government shutdown isn’t affecting us here in NC and SC? Think again, the Charlotte Observer published a story on Friday, October 4, 2013, stating that as of TODAY more than 860 pre-kindergarten children in York County, SC were unable to attend their preschool. The reason…their Head Start Centers ran out of money because of the government shutdown and the closures started yesterday.

However a few hours ago, http://www.Heraldonline.com reported that those kindergarteners will be back in their classroom Wednesday thanks to a Texas Foundation. The $10 million angel donation will allow the Head Start Centers to operate through the month of October. The Carolina Community Action central office is working through the end of the day to notify parents, teachers, counselors, and supporting staff of the good news!
