Referee scandals and playoff conspiracy theories are far from uncommon when it comes to the NBA, but these latest allegations against Lakers officials by basketball fans has got us thinking it might actually be a case worth investigating.
A basketball fan recently uploaded a video to YouTube showcasing refs blatantly ignoring fouls made against players on the Portland Blazers, Dallas Mavericks, Minnesota Timberwolves and Sacramento Kings while playing the Lakers, along with egregious calls in favor of members on the Lakers team, most notably Kobe Bryant. On several occasions Bryant was seen making blatant physical contact with opponents — like literally hitting someone on his head as he took a shot — with not one foul being called on him. However, the refs apparently regained their vision when it came time to seeing even the slightest foul committed against Bryant.
Is the NBA simply determined to get the Lakers through to the playoffs no matter what? Or is this just a case of few wack-ass refs? Let us know your thoughts below in the comments.
