Update: Grimmer details continue to emerge regarding the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT. At least 26 people are dead – at least 20 children, the 24-year-old gunman and the gunman’s mother. A relative of the suspect was also found dead at a home in Newtown, a community of about 27,000.
Update 6:46 p.m.: CNN reports the suspected shooter is Adam Lanza, age 20, the brother of Ryan Lanza.
Update 5:33 p.m.: A source told CNN that it was the mother of the gunman who was found dead in a home in Newtown.
New 4:10 p.m.: Authorities initially reported that the suspect was Ryan Lanza, 24. His identity is no longer confirmed. The gunman may have been carrying his brother’s ID. Lanza’s mother was a teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary. MSNBC reports she was found dead at the school. According to reports, Lanza focused his shooting spree on a kindergarten class at the school.
