The Civil Rights Movement ended nearly 60 years ago, but racism is still a major issue conflicting our national psyche. Or is it? Is the fight against discrimination and the fight for access still about race or is it an issue of privilege? On January 17, noted author Tim Wise kick off Mecklenburg Ministries Clery Lunch & Food For Thought series for 2013.
Wise has written six books about racism, such as “Colorblind: Barack Obama, Post-Racial Liberalism and the Retreat from Racial Equity (City Lights).” Wise has been featured on CNN and has spoken on issues of race and privilege throughout the country.
