In all of my years of covering entertainment here, I have to say this is one of the biggest surprises.
Maxwell is returning to Time Warner Cable Arena on June 29. That’s less than a year after he performed at the arena in October. Whoa! Charlotte rarely gets that kind of love from urban acts or concert promoters. Does that mean we’re a big city? A viable urban market?
The Charlotte stop is one of three Carolina stops for the neo-soul singer who will also perform at the Greensboro Coliseum on June 28 and the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia on July 1.
He’s currently on a national tour and it’s selling well. He’s doing two dates in D.C., one of which is with Jill Scott. He’s also doing two dates in Atlanta this summer, one with Scott and one with Erykah Badu.
Despite my begging, Live Nation representatives have not announced who will open for Maxwell when he performs here. Check back because as soon I know, you’ll know.
