Today is Diabetes Alert Day. The National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP) wants to bring attention to risk factors for type 2 diabetes, including having a family history of the disease and/or a history of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). All across the country, we want to make this day a wake-up call for Americans and talk about the seriousness of diabetes, particularly when left undiagnosed or untreated.
