Former Bobcats owner Robert Johnson is returning to the entertainment industry. The founder of Black Entertainment Television is buying two movie distribution companies with plans to combine them to create RLJ Entertainment Inc., according to the Washington Business Journal. Johnson’s The RLJ Cos. will buy Calif.-based Image Entertainment Inc., which distributes independent films, and Silver Spring-based Acorn Media Group Inc. Acorn distributes British TV shows and owns a large Agatha Christie library.

Johnson sold the Bobcats to Michael Jordan, who is denying rumors he plans to sell Bobcats, in 2010. He last made headlines here when he slammed the Charlotte business community during a business networking event uptown.
