VIA CHARLOTTE OBSERVER

Charlotte City Council member Warren Turner angrily defended himself against that he made sexually inappropriate comments to women. After Turner spoke, Monday night the City Council voted 6-3 against censuring Turner.

The Charlotte Observer reported that council members Susan Burgess, Michael Barnes and Nancy Carter voted to censure Turner, as well as directing him to “cease and desist” such conduct, according to the wording of the resolution.

During Monday’s meeting, Turner also said the female employee who said he had pulled on her sweater wasn’t telling the truth, according to the Observer. He said when Mayor Anthony Foxx sent an e-mail to council warning members not to sexually harass city staff, he was in Washington D.C. at a conference, and the female employee was also there.

“This individual shared my cab to my hotel,” Turner said. “The same person booked herself in the same hotel and on the same flight.”
