Less than 24 hours before the primary, the N.C State Bar suspended state Rep. Nick Mackey’s law license for three years. The Bar found that Mackey, a Charlotte lawyer, engaged in “acts of dishonesty” and a “pattern of misconduct.”

Mackey faces fellow Democrat Rodney Moore in tomorrow’s primary. The Bar’s decision is the latest in a string of bad press for Mackey. Ironically, Mackey has developed a reputation of withstanding bad press. For him, the adage of when one door closes another opens is his political life story.
