Marlon and Shawn Wayans aren’t on tour, theoretically, but they are performing standup comedy in different cities. Their trek brings them to Charlotte to the Comedy Zone. What kind of tour is this?
It’s not a tour. We just go around doing stand up together. It’s fun. Marlon goes on first and then I go on after him.
You’re not on stage at the same time?
No. It might be a little weird. We play off each other in a script because there’s a stop point for Marlon to shut up and let me to say something.
What do you talk about during your set?
I talk about all facets, everything from music to relationships to kids everyday life stuff. Marlon, he’s a little more political. He talks about sports and stuff like that.
Even though you don’t follow politics have you been following Herman McCain’s drama?
He makes me laugh. Excuse me, excuse me it’s time for us to get on message (In McCain’s voice). He’s like that drunk uncle that comes over hugging on all of the aunts being inappropriate. He makes me laugh more than anything else. You don’t know any of his foreign policy. You just know that he wants to get back on message and what is that message?
What are you guys working on these days?
We’re developing a lot of TV stuff, a couple of movie things. All of this stuff it takes a lot of time to do. We’re in the lab.
