Last week, President Barack Obama’s Uncle Onyango Obama was arrested for drunk driving in Framingham, Massachusetts. Police said Obama made a rolling stop through a stop sign and nearly caused a cruiser to hit his sport utility vehicle.
Onyango, who is originally from Kenya, is the half brother of President Obama’s father. Onyango Obama who is 67, was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failure to yield the right of way. After being booked at the police station, when asked if he would like to make a phone call to arrange bail he stated, “I think I will call The White House.”
He pleaded not guilty on Friday and was being held without bail on a detainer from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. In a court document, ICE said he had an earlier deportation or removal order.
