In the next few days don’t be surprised to hear thousands of random people saying “Alright, Alright, Alright” (In a crackhead voice); “You goin’ learn today,” “Pineapples” or “Code 6 – lie ni–a.”

Those are simply a few of the memorable phrases Kevin Hart dropped during a sold “Laugh At My Pain” tour at Charlotte Time Warner Cable Arena. My92.7’s Fly Ty opened for Hart in Charlotte. Hart’s show is selling out arenas nationwide. After seeing Hart perform on Sunday, it’s easy to see why. To put it simply, he’s hilarious. It’s not simply Hart’s jokes or animated stage presence that makes him funny, it’s his delivery. He draws from life experiences such as as not being as rich as Dwayne Wade, being a daddy, growing up with a crackhead father or failed relationships. Hart uses that material to tell stories not jokes. He makes fans feel like they know the crazy people in his life (or imagination). It’s that ability in the vein of Richard Pryor that separates him from the vast majority of people who call themselves comedians.

For diehard Hart fans, Hart introduced new phrases and characters, but he still recalled favorites such as his uncle and his father and “say with your chest.” He didn’t talk as much about his kids as he usually does, but his story about SpongeBob Square pants (an ex-con) playing “duck, duck n—a” at his child’s birthday party should become a classic.

Hart talks about his upcoming projects, including a concert DVD, and more in a video interview with Fly Ty. We’ll post that later this week. In the meantime, enjoy pictures from Sunday night’s show.
