Rihanna, Solange, Keri Hilson and more celebs attended the 5th Annual DKMS Gala last night at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. Rihanna was awarded for her commitment to the fight against leukemia.

She said in a statement, “Anyone can be affected by leukemia. It is the number one disease children in the U.S. die of and we can change that. I encourage people to become bone marrow donors with DKMS. If we have more donors, we can save more lives.”

Early last year, Rihanna publicly urged all her fans to register with the DKMS bone marrow donor center so that young Broadway performer Shannon Tavarez, who played Nala in ‘The Lion King,’ could live after being diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia. The singer unfortunately passed in November 2010.

Pharrell emceed the black-tie event, Solange provided her DJing skills, and supermodel Iman was also in attendance. All proceeds raised will go directly to registering life-saving bone marrow donors.
