Hundreds of people turned out for a night of food, drinks and music for the 16th annual The Taste of the Nation fundraiser to fight child hunger. The event featured food samplings from more than 30 restaurants such as Blue, The Capital Grille and Harper’s. Delectables by Holly and Petit Philippe exclusively provided the desserts for the VIP lounge, a new addition for this year.

One of the most popular dishes of the evening was a beef slider from The Capital Grille. Participants actually waited in line for the mini-burger. When that ran out the restaurant dished out an equally popular lobster crabcake. Another tasty dish was the sea bass by Bricktop’s restaurant. The event, which included a silent auction and an auction, raised more than $115,000 to fight child hunger. Part of the proceeds went to local charities: Second Harvest Food Bank, Community Culinary School of Charlotte.
