VIA CHARLOTTE OBSERVER

Former Charlotte Bobcats owner Bob Johnson slammed the Charlotte business community less than a week after selling the NBA team to Michael Jordan. The billionaire and founder of BET was a featured speaker during the Urban Leadership Institute’s townhall meeting on Saturday.

Johnson called the city’s business community “arrogant,” “incestuous” and not supportive of minority-owned businesses. Mayor Anthony Foxx, another featured speaker at the event countered that the city’s business climate toward minorities is improving. No Grease Barbershop organized the event as a networking opportunity for small businesses.

Johnson’s comments have caused quite a stir. Do you think his comments are legitimate or sour grapes because Charlotte fans didn’t rally around the Bobcats more?
