The 90’s saw the rise of NewJack Swing a hybrid style of music that fused rhythm, samples and production techniques of hip-hop with the urban contemporary sound of R&B. Technicalities aside, new jack swing was a way of life for those of us growing up in the late 1980’s and early 90’s.
Blackstreet, featuring Teddy Riley and Dave Hollister, was a standout group in the new jack swing era.
